Deposit Insurance Corporation of Ontario (DICO)

The Deposit Insurance Corporation of Ontario is a Provincial Agency which provides deposit insurance protection for the members of Ontario Credit Unions and Caisses populaires.

Deposits made at different credit unions are separately insured, however deposits made at different branches of the same credit union are insured under the same plan. DICO insures the following eligible deposits at member institutions up to $100,000.00 per depositor:

- Savings & Chequings accounts

- Term Deposits and GICs

- RRSPs

- RRIFs

- Ontario Home Ownership Savings Plans (OHOSP)

These deposits must be payable in Canada and held in an Ontario Credit Union. Term deposits are insured regardless of the term.
